Position Overview

You will provide end-user and infrastructure operational support. You will undertake project work within a multi-platform integrated environment, liaising with vendors and internal technical teams and customers. This includes design, testing, deployment and documentation of all new internal, cloud-based and customer solutions. You will perform various tasks concerning computer hardware, software and networking and be responsible for all aspects of the administration of servers and associated technologies.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations

  • Setup desktops, platform access policies and permissions for new employees and external customers.
  • Ensure the secure and smooth operation and maintenance of our internal IT infrastructure, and customer-facing IT equipment and software.
  • Monitor alarms, diagnose and resolve faults to ensure SLAs are met and write incident reports for internal and external facing service disruptions.
  • Undertake regular hardware upgrades, software updates and license renewals through robust change management processes.
  • Implement, document and maintain a zero-trust security policy to provide comprehensive security and an amazing user experience.
  • Manage data integrity and business continuity risk through offsite data backups and disaster recovery processes and infrastructure.
  • Perform and prepare regular IT security and platform utilisation audits for customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities.

IT Support

Provide IT support for internal and external customers, including desktop, server and cloud services, including support and fault escalation as part of a 24/7 after-hours on-call roster.
Manage IT security processes for employee onboarding and departure.
Provide technical expertise, training and consultancy to non-technical staff and customers.
Continuous Improvement

Suggest and update IT processes and procedures in accordance with industry best practices.
Provide technical expertise and advice for new product development and customer solutions.
Manage IT platform and software retirement and replacement with new infrastructure or cloud-based service options to improve internal and external customer experience.
Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best value solutions for equipment, software, licenses and support.

Requirements and skills


  • Self-starter who shows initiative, integrity and honesty and is trustworthy, flexible, adaptable and pragmatic.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent certification (Cloud Platform and Infrastructure track preferred).
  • Experience in implementing all aspects of Windows Server and Windows Desktop Infrastructure in mission-critical enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding and operational experience in Virtualisation technologies in large organisations, especially VMware and Hyper-V environments.
  • Basic Linux admin, daemon management and configuration skills.
  • Knowledge of x86 hardware platforms, support and associated items.
  • Operational experience for remotely connected customers and the associated technologies (e.g Terminal Services, Citrix, RDP, NPS/Radius)
  • Direct experience with capacity management, performance monitoring and tuning, security, system backup and maintenance of windows-based technologies
  • Experience updating and supporting MS-Windows Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Security patch deployment experience essential with SCCM or WSUS
  • Good understanding of Microsoft client and server software licensing
  • including data security and privacy
  • Have a good understanding of TCP/IP environments, including network address space management, proxy and networking technologies.
  • Experience working independently to design, troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues
  • Experience working collaboratively with other team members to quickly and effectively resolve technical issues and provide timely status and progress reporting to customers/users
  • Understanding of both information systems and audit functions in an organisation, including data security and privacy.
  • Evidence of strong documentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with database administration and maintenance with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • VBA / PHP / Perl / C# / C++ etc programming knowledge (optional)
  • An understanding of Voice over IP protocols and QoS systems.
  • Previous experience in a large environment with clustering, failover/recovery and load balancing strategies.
